Father,
we repent this morning for the corporate sins of America.
Oh God, never let it be said in the courts of Heaven that there
weren’t people in this nation who were aware of how crimson our sins
were and how bad they were and would not come before your throne and
confess their sins and as Daniel did, confess the sins of his people. As
Noah was offering sacrifice for his sins and he said, “Perhaps my
children have sinned today; I will offer sacrifice for them.
As Moses stood and interceded before you for the people, God we
stand this morning as a group united confessing the wickedness of America
and the corporate sin of this nation.
And we beseech you Lord, have mercy.
Cover us with your blood; wash away the corporate sin of this
nation. Forgive us for our
transgressions, God. They are
voluminous; they are huge; they are large.
We ask that you would cover our transgression; cover the skirts of
America; cover our filthiness and our wickedness with the blood of Christ.
Remit, dear Lord, I pray the corporate sins of this nation.
Do
not let our enemies swallow us, God.
Do not let the fierceness of the Islamic sword come against us,
dear God. Our only hope is
you. Our only defense is you.
Our only plea is the blood of Christ.
We have no defense against the things of this earth.
Our defenses are like tissue paper, God.
You are the only one who can truly defend us; you are the only one
who can truly cause the enemy to recede.
It is in your hand. You
raise and you lower nations and leaders and our future is in your hands.
You will determine what happens in the coming days. So
we beseech you mightily for the remission of sin in America, for the
covering of our national and corporate sins, dear God.
We confess we have not followed you, as we should have.
We confess we are a guilty people.
We confess. We drape
ourselves in sackcloth and ashes before you for the nation, God,
individually yes, but also for the nation.
We repent for this nation, God.
Have
mercy on this nation, dear God. I
pray that you would remember the good things that America has done.
It’s not all been evil, but we tug gently on your robe and say,
“Please, look in the book of remembrance.
Remember also the good and the kind things that this nation has
done, oh Lord. And I pray,
have mercy on us for your Son’s sake that he would have a bride without
spot or wrinkle. Lord, in your wrath and your anger, do not destroy us as a people. Humble us, yes Lord, but spare us destruction, we pray. We receive correction at your hand, Father, and we repent, we repent, we repent as a nation. Forgive us; have mercy on us, oh Lord. I pray, God, you would raise up literally millions of voices before your throne crying for mercy, crying for repentance, repenting for this nation, going into spiritual sackcloth and ashes before you and confessing our wickedness and our deeds. Thank you, dear God, for such a wonderful leadership in the White House right now. We are amazed at what you have done in your provision by putting this team together. And Lord, we do pray for the re-election of George Bush right now. We ask that you would reelect this president, God. We beseech you in your mercy and your kindness, give us this man again; he is a gift to the church; he is a treasure to the church. We ask wisdom to fall on him. Let him be a Josiah, God. Let him be a Josiah, God. Let him be a Josiah, God. Give him the heart of a Josiah. Even if he didn’t grow up with it, Father, implant it in him by your mercy and your grace. Give him the ability to be a godly leader in this nation, a man who seeks God, a man who is after God’s heart, a man who has the wisdom of the Lord in him. A prayer of Intercession by Don Franklin @ CHC 9-25-01
